Feb 14th (St Valentine's Day!) and crocus, daffodils, marigolds, stocks and roses continue to co-exist in my garden!
Mixed up seasons
This crocus will open as soon as the sun shines! |
Marigolds still provide plenty of colour |
These daffodils, which started pushing their way out of the soil back in November look way ahead of where they should be. |
Another rose is happily flowering |
Close to more daffodils |
and a rose is still full of buds. |
and not far away last summer's stocks are still blooming! |
A colourful primrose |
The next batch of photographs were taken on 18th January. They show how the daffodils have progressed and that I still have roses in bloom and in bud (when they should be being pruned!). My daffs are not as far forward as those I saw just a few miles from here on my Sunday morning bike ride (15th Jnauary). One surprise yeterday was the discovery of greenfly in the roses. Another, today, was a man cutting his grass. And in today's local paper a story of a blackbird nesting and laying eggs in a Christmas tree!
Ugh! Greenfly - in January!! |
